And it came not too long after their 1991 stylistically entirely different album Soulside Journey: self-assured death, rather than black metal vibes. And does it matter — dark metal begetting a proliferation of subgenres, with drummers working out their hearts and bodies and souls, contrasted with shadowy figures' feeble guitar strumming, on occasion in their socks in the rehearsal room. 🤷
